<p>The Calabogie Blues and Ribfest is pleased to announce its initial line up for its three day festival August 18, 19 and 20 at Calabogie Peaks Resort.</p>
<p>Friday starts off with Blues and Company followed by the return of the Carson Downey Band. Victor Wainwright and the Wildroots round out the Friday line up.</p>
<p>Saturday features Big Sugar making their first appearance in Calabogie supported by Tom Lavin and the Legendary Powder Blues Band supporting. The day is jam packed with quality rockin’ blues bands including the Weber Brothers, JW Jones, Lyle Odjick and the Northern Steam, and Kyle Lalone kicks it all off.</p>
<p>Festival Talent Coordinator Todd Bernard says, “…we are very pleased with the quality of the line up again this year. In our 7<sup>th</sup> year we are now able to bring back the highest quality acts from previous years like Tom Lavin and the Legendary Powder Blues Band and the Weber Brothers while adding amazing new performers like Big Sugar.”</p>
<p>The Sunday line up will be announced soon along with more performers to be added throughout the weekend.</p>
<p>The festival also features Ribbers from all over North American smoking amazing ribs and chicken and competing for the coveted People’s Choice award.</p>

<h2>Provincial funding for Calabogie festivals</h2>
<p>Renfrew Mercury April 27, 2016</p>
<p>The Mountain Man Music Festival in Calabogie 
and the Calabogie Blues and Ribfest are among the recipients of recently announced provincial funding.</p>
<p>Ontario is contributing almost $1.1 million to festivals and events in Eastern Ontario as part of Celebrate Ontario 2016 to increase tourism, stimulate local economies and create jobs, says an April 21 press release from Peterborough MPP Jeff Leal. The Mountain Man Music Festival is getting $140,406 and the Calabogie Blues and Ribfest has been awarded $154,000. Both events are held at Calabogie Peaks.</p>
<p>“This announcement demonstrates our government’s commitment to supporting local festivals across Ontario and ensuring these important events continue to succeed and thrive,” said Leal. “The investment in Eastern Ontario will help these important local tourism operations to attract more visitors, promote local tourism and create economic opportunities for our communities.” Through the Celebrate Ontario 2016 program, the province is helping 21 festivals and events in Eastern Ontario that showcase Ontario’s culture, heritage and diversity, while also enhancing visitor experiences and increasing attendance.</p>
<p>“Ontario is home to many unique and diverse festivals and events that showcase our province and attract visitors from all over the world,” said Michael Coteau, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport. “I’m proud that through Celebrate Ontario, our government continues to support this vibrant sector. <h2>Announces Full Lineup for 2015 Festival</h2>

(May 12, 2015) – As we head into the 5th year of the Class Axe Guitars Calabogie Blues & Ribfest, organizers are thrilled to announce another stellar lineup for the August 14, 15 & 16 festival. <br /><br />Hitting up the stage Friday night is Shemekia Copeland and an awesome 5th Anniversary Calabogie Blues & Rifest Jam with ‘Bogie Veterans Jack DeKeyzer, David Gogo and Jerome Godboo. All three artists have taken to the Calabogie Blues & Ribfest stage at some point since it’s inception in 2011.<br /><br />Rocking the stage on Saturday August 15th will be Drew Nelson, Guy Belanger, Fathead, Steve Strongman, and Keb’ Mo’. The three time Grammy Award Winner had added Calabogie Blues & Ribfest as the only Canadian stop on his North American tour featuring his new album ‘Americana’.<br /><br />Band Director, Yves Trottier says “We are so excited to have the very best in Canadian blues talent rounded out by Keb’ Mo’ – a true living link to Delta Blues that influenced so many artists.”<br /><br />Finally, Sunday at The Peaks we’ll see Al Wood and Grady Champion taking the Calabogie stage. <h2 style="text-align: left;">Class Axe Guitars Calabogie Blues & Ribfest<br />to Hold Guitar & Harmonica Workshops at Festival</h2>
<p><strong>OTTAWA, Ont. (July 18, 2013)</strong> – Following the popularity of the workshops at last year’s event, organizers have announced a new lineup of lessons for guitar and harmonica players attending the 2013 Class Axe Guitars Calabogie Blues & Ribfest.</p>
<p><span style="font-size: 13.333333015441895px; line-height: 1.231;">Festival goers are encouraged to bring their instruments, and have a sit down lesson with some of the artists who will be playing the event. Children are encouraged to participate with their own guitar lesson on Saturday August 17</span><sup>th</sup><span style="font-size: 13.333333015441895px; line-height: 1.231;"> at 1:30pm with Maria Hawkins. Adults can get in on the fun later the same day, at 3pm with Steve Hill. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 13.333333015441895px; line-height: 1.231;">Sunday August 18</span><sup>th</sup><span style="font-size: 13.333333015441895px; line-height: 1.231;"> at 1pm, there will be a harmonica workshop with Joe Murphy. At 2:20pm on the same day, Peter Karp and Sue Foley will be hosting a blues music workshop.</span></p>
<p>The event’s title sponsor, Class Axe Guitars, will be on site with guitars available for purchase.</p>

They will be inviting all the musicians playing over the weekend to join them at the after party. This performance will only be available to festival goers with VIP access.</span></p>

After being featured in Rolling Stone in 1968, Johnny Winter prompted a bidding war between music labels. He has since played at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Festival, and has been nominated for several Grammys.</span></p>

<p><strong>Canadian Blues Legend Colin James and Johnny Winter To Headline Festival <br /></strong></p>
<p><strong>Calabogie, (ON):</strong> Battle of the Barbeques and boogie with the Blues! Thanks to the tremendous support of the Province of Ontario’s <em>Celebrate Ontario Program</em>, Greater Madawaska Township is pleased to announce that the 3rd Annual Class Axe Guitars Calabogie Blues & Ribfest will be showcasing some of the finest Blues music found anywhere in North America! The Township of Greater Madawaska received a grant from the Ministry of Tourism’s <em>Celebrate Ontario Program</em>, and these funds will help not only to secure some of the top Blues performers, but also help attract a greater audience to the township. The Class Axe Guitars Calabogie Blues & Ribfest will be held the weekend of August 16-18, 2013 at the Calabogie Peaks Resort, less than an hour away from the City of Ottawa.</p>
<p><span style="font-size: 13.333333015441895px; line-height: 1.231;">Celebrate Ontario Grants help new and existing Ontario festivals and events enhance their programs, activities and services. <p><strong>OTTAWA, Ont. (March 15, 2013)</strong> – Heading into their third year, the Class Axe Guitars Calabogie Blues & Ribfest is thrilled to announce its Saturday night lineup, and headliner for the 2013 show.</p>
<p>Starting out the night on Saturday August 17<sup>th</sup> is the Ben Racine Band, recently nominated as New Artist of the Year at the 2012 Maple Blues Awards. Soulstack is also taking the stage that night, delivering a mix of urban blues and Memphis soul, with grit. Also playing August 17<sup>th</sup> is Steve Hill. Vancouver’s Real Blues magazine proclaimed Hill to be the best young blues guitar player in North America.</p>
<p>Finally, headlining the 2013 Class Axe Guitars Calabogie Blues & Ribfest, planners are proud to announce Canada’s own blues superstar Colin James. James is a Juno Award winning artist with multiple number one singles. His self-titled debut album was the fastest selling album in Canadian history. He’s toured with Keith Richards, reached #3 on the U.S. radio charts and is even credited with launching the swing revival. This summer he’s headed to Calabogie to headline the third annual Calabogie Blues & Ribfest!</p>

<p><strong>OTTAWA, Ont. (June 14, 2012) </strong>– Canada’s premier blues act, and Juno Award winning Powder Blues Band will be headlining Calabogie Bluesfest this year. The band has over a dozen Gold, Platinum and Double Platinum records.</p>
<p>Several new bands have been added to the schedule lineup in the past couple weeks, and blues fans across Ontario have given their nod of approval.</p>
<p>On Friday August 17<sup>th</sup>, festival goers can look forward to Terry Gillespie, Shakura S’Aida and the legendary Downchild Blues Band headlining the night. The Juno nominated Downchild is travelling the country on their Flip Flop & Fly Tour this summer. </p>
<p>Starting on Saturday August 18<sup>th </sup>is Rocket Rached & the Fat City 8, followed by Bill Durst, Bob Walsh, Jack de Keyzer and headlining is the Powder Blues Band. Leader, Tom Lavin has written many well known blues tracks including “Doin’ it Right” (On the Wrong Side of Town) & “Boppin’ With the Blues”. <h2>Class Axe Guitars Calabogie Blues & Ribfest allowing RVs & popup tents at festival!</h2>
<p><strong>OTTAWA, Ont. (July 11, 2011)</strong> – It’s official, Class Axe Guitars Calabogie Blues & Ribfest is now Ontario’s only bluesfest to allow RVs and pop-up tents at their all weekend festival. From August 12th to the 14th blues fans and ribbers can camp out and stay in the centre of the action all weekend.<br /><br />Weekend tickets and weekend camping tickets are all available online at calabogieblues.com. A portion of the proceeds from the event will be donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Blues in Schools and the Renfrew Health Services Village.<br /><br />“This festival is just the beginning, it’s the first annual and we plan to be a part of summers in Calabogie for years to come. We are proud to be able to stand out in the festival scene with our allowance of RVs and popup tents on site. (June 22, 2011)</strong> – Blues artists and ribbers from across Canada and the US will gather August 12, 13 & 14 at Calabogie Peaks Resort to celebrate the first annual Class Axe Guitars Calabogie Peaks Blues & Ribfest, in partnership with 101.9 DAWG FM.<br /><br />More than just an occasion to get out for the weekend and listen to live blues bands from across Canada, Class Axe Guitars, 101.9 DAWG FM and Calabogie Peaks have integrated their blues fest with a rib fest – for a weekend long celebration of all things ribs and blues!<br /><br />Visitors will enjoy a beer garden located by the main stage, a vendor’s area, a kids’ zone with face painting and rides, the 101.9 DAWG FM Blues Cruiser, live blues music and Canadian and US ribbers vying for the best ribs in town.<br /><br />“Calabogie Peaks Resort is very excited to host, with DAWG FM, the first large scale music event ever at the mountain.
