In March / April 2000 Anniversary Issue TORONTO JAZZ received a letter of congratulations from Mayor Mel Lastman. On February 5th 2008 in a letter from Mississauga’s Mayor Hazel McCallion, CM. , was “Commended for promoting jazz music in the community”. March 2010 – “15th Anniversary Issue” received a letter of praise from Mayor David Miller for “Promoting Jazz in Toronto”. On March 1st 2011, 16th Anniversary Issue, received a” Letter of Congratulations” from Toronto’s new Mayor , Rob Ford. On April 1st 2012, 17th Anniversary Issue, received “A Personal Message from The Premier of Ontario, Dalton McGuinty” commending the publication for promoting jazz in Toronto. Also on April 1st. 2012 yet another kind “Letter of Congratulations” from Toronto’s Mayor Rob Ford . On April 1st. 2014 the 19th Anniversary of Toronto Jazz publication, received personal congratulations and a framed scroll from Mayor Rob Ford recognizing Dave’s 60 years in the music industry. On April 1st . 2015 received “Warmest greetings to the readers of Toronto Jazz on the occasion of its 2oth anniversary” also, “Commending publisher, Dave Milbourne and the magazine’s supporters for nurturing an appreciation of jazz music and its tradition”. These gratifying words came from the Rt. Hon. Stephen Harper, P.C., M.P. Prime Minister of Canada. Also a Personal Message from the Premier of Ontario, Kathleen Wynne . “On behalf of the Government of Ontario, I am delighted to extend warm greeting to the publisher and readers of Toronto Jazz as they celebrate the 20th anniversary of this fine publication”. From our great city Toronto’s newest Mayor, Mayor John Tory. “It is my esteemed pleasure to extend warm wishes and congratulations to Toronto Jazz on the occasion of its 20th anniversary”. On April 1. 2020 Toronto Jazz once again received a most welcome letter from Mayor John Tory this time extending his warm wishes for our 25th Anniversary. On that same day we received an exceptional “Letter of Congratulations” from the Premier of Ontario, Doug Ford. The premier’s late brother, Mayor Rob Ford had presented us with a with a framed scroll on the event of our 19th Anniversary. Finally on April 1st ” Congratulations on the 25th Anniversary of Toronto Jazz” from George T. Wein Founder, of the world famous, Newport Jazz Festival (1954). George is considered to be the “most important impresario in the jazz world”. Just a few words from the U.K. Britain’s very own legendary jazz vocalist, Dame Cleo Laine , “Keep up the good work across the pond. Best wishes from Cleo Laine & Staff at Dankworth Management and Music in the Park 2015″. TORONTO JAZZ has received acclamation from the legendary, Margie Evans and LOS ANGELES MUSIC WEEK. Also from the late renowned British saxophonist, Ronnie Scott (RONNIE SCOTT’S CLUB, London, Englan d) and, consummate jazz vocalist, Sheila Jordan .
